Unlike other dog breeding platforms, BreedBuddies prioritises ethical breeding practices through rigorous vetting processes, educational resources, and a community-centric approach. It ensures that all members adhere to the highest ethical standards and current legislation requirements.
The cost of using a male breeding dog can vary significantly based on several factors. Popular and purebred breeds often command higher fees compared to mixed breeds or less sought-after ones. Dogs with a strong pedigree and championship lineage may also have substantially higher service fees.
Additionally, if the male dog has undergone extensive health testing to ensure he is free from genetic diseases, the fee may be higher.
Geographical location plays a role as well, with dogs in urban areas or major cities generally having higher fees than those in rural areas.
Lastly, breeders with established reputations and a track record of producing healthy and well-adjusted puppies may charge more. It's important to note that service fees can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. To make an informed decision, it's advisable to research market rates for the specific breed and location you're interested in and choose a reputable breeder who prioritises the health and well-being of their dogs.
Subscription costs vary based on how many male dogs you have on the platform. Female dogs can be added for free, with a fee per confirmed match, which is at the female owners discretion. All subscriptions include access to our ethical pairing tools, community forums, educational resources, and event listings. For pricing details see our Pricing page.

Dog Lovers and Breeders
In Australia, becoming a registered dog breeder primarily means you are recognised by a governing body as adhering to certain standards of animal welfare, breeding practices, and record-keeping. It does not automatically grant you the right to sell puppies.
However, in most states and territories, you must be a registered breeder to legally sell any puppies you breed. This requirement helps authorities monitor and regulate breeding activities, ensuring the welfare of the animals and promotes responsible pet ownership.
Therefore, while registration itself doesn't directly permit selling puppies, it's a mandatory prerequisite to do so legally.
Absolutely! BreedBuddies welcomes all dog enthusiasts, whether you're a breeder, owner, or simply someone who loves dogs. Our platform offers valuable resources, a supportive community, and opportunities to connect with other dog lovers and learn more about responsible breeding and dog care.
Yes. As long as your dog is registered as a Breeding Dog as per your States legislation requirements you can join the BreedBuddies community. You do not need to be a registered Breeder.
Cross Breeding
While crossbreeding can sometimes result in healthier puppies by introducing genetic diversity, there are also risks involved. It is important to choose parent dogs that are healthy and have been screened for genetic diseases.
Brachycephalic breeds, such as bulldogs, French bulldogs, pugs, Boston terriers, boxers, Shih Tzus, and Pekingese, are characterised by their shortened muzzles and can experience respiratory problems.
Exacerbation of Health Issues: Brachycephalic breeds are already prone to respiratory problems due to their shortened muzzles. Crossbreeding with other brachycephalic breeds can exacerbate these issues, leading to even more severe breathing difficulties.
Genetic Diversity: While crossbreeding can introduce genetic diversity, it can also lead to a dilution of the unique characteristics and traits of each breed. This can make it more difficult to predict the health and temperament of the offspring.
Ethical Concerns: Crossbreeding can contribute to the overpopulation of dogs and the exploitation of breeding practices. There are concerns about the ethical implications of breeding dogs with known health problems.
Most breeds of dogs can crossbreed, but there are some exceptions based on size or genetic differences. Some popular crossbreed combinations include Labradoodles (Labrador Retriever and Poodle), Groodles (Golden Retriever and Poodle), and Cockapoos (Cocker Spaniel and Poodle).
